I don't understand what you do with the quinoa. Can I just put it in my blender to turn it into flour? Do I need to cook it? Or do I use 1 cup of cooked quinoa instead of flour?
Hi Carol. Yes you can put raw quinoa into the blender to make flour (toast it in a pan first), or use storebought quinoa flour, or another type of flour like I noted. This recipe also uses cooked quinoa in the batter and sprinkled on top.
Thank you so much! I love all your research! I was curious about cocoa powder pros and cons so this was perfect timing! Thank you so much for listing products too and tips to the recipes it is so helpful.
Wondering in addition to all the dietary guidelines and recommendations if you recommend additional supplementation and if so which ones and which specific brands?
Hi Cindy. Yes! That's a whole other topic. I have a webinar coming up soon with Zing Life about brain health supplements. It's free to attend and I'll share the link soon. But to answer your question briefly, I think it's important to take a fish oil supplement that contains DHA/EPA in a 3/1 ratio bound to phosphatidyl choline. Also key to take vitamin D and check serum levels annually to assure it's in a healthy range.
I enjoyed the deeper knowledge on flavanols and the studies that have been conducted. Made your brownie recipe today & paired it with fresh raspberries for dessert. Dinner was your sheet pan chicken cobb salad with kefir-avocado dressing. My whole family (including teens) devoured the meal!

I add cocoa or cocoa nibs to steel-cut oatmeal for a chocolate flavonoid boost.
Excellent idea! I really love cocoa nibs in so many foods, even on salads.

So glad it's helpful.

That all sounds so delicious! I think you are the first to try the new brownies.
